GETTING OVER

. . . friday is their market day . . . friday is our no-school day . . . we pretend to buy all the things we can’t afford . . . except lunch. . . which we steal from the blind woman selling fruit . . . this is a bad thing . . . we know . . . but when we are older . . . and drive the trucks that bring the market into town . . . we will pay for the food we steal . . . and the blind woman will ride for free.
